As the minister of Covenant Presbyterian Church, John’s passion is expositional preaching from the Bible. A gifted teacher, he is a pastor with real-world experience and a heart for leading others to the truth of the gospel.

John is a native and lifelong resident of Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born and reared in a faithful Christian home and professed a saving faith in Christ at a young age. John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arkansas, a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Midwestern Seminary in Kansas City, and is pursuing additional studies. John is a former real estate executive and spent 20 years in the business world.

John and his wife Sydney have been married for 19 years. They have three children who are actively involved at Covenant.

This week's service kicked off our church's Holy Week observances this year, and featured the sermon "Life in the Local Church," the conclusion to Dr. John Clayton's sermon series through the book of James. The hymns for this week were "All Glory, Laud, and Honor," "O Thou That Hear'st When Sinners Cry," "Psalm 130 (From the Depths of Woe)," and "Thy Mercy, My God." In addition, our choir sang the "Ride On, Ride On in Majesty for this week's offertory.1
